Fashion Market in LA

The kids were off of school so Juliet and I had a chance to drive up to the Fashion Market in LA. The last Friday of each month some of the wholesalers offer their samples up for sale for riduculously low prices. We picked up a few things and then walked the outdoor shops. The picture above is of the crosswalks! We really enjoyed the fabric store...Michael Levin..where they took the designers on "Launch My Line" It was fun just to see the wall of trims! CHA Consumer Show

I went to the CHA Consumer show in Anaheim yesterday. I took my MIL, who is a knitter, to the show with me. We had a really good time and participated in many of the make and takes. The picture above shows most of my "freebies" The show was not as crowded as I had anticipated which was nice. I am looking forward to Sunday night as I am meeting with several of the Little Red Scrapbook Kit Club members who are attending the CHA Trade Show on Sunday.

Rain, Rain, Rain

 

We are on day two of what is forcasted as a 5 day storm. The girls went out and played in the rain yesterday. Of course that meant a full load of wet laundry but they had some fun. Today started with a little bit of sun and then the rain came back. It is really coming down now and things are getting cancelled...games, practices etc.

Frustration...

Ever feel like you are hitting your head against a wall? At times I feel like I am going in circles and nothing gets accomplished.
The reason this comes to mind is that as I sit here, there is a bird who thinks he needs to come in through the window. He has been alternating between a couple of windows in our house over the last 2 weeks..not everyday but frequently...he just tap tap taps on the window. Flies away and then comes back. I have tried scaring him away multiple times but he keeps coming back. He seems healthy and uninjured, just a little confused.
I tried to take a picture of him but he flew away. So here are some pics of our Hong Kong Orchid tree. It flowers like this about twice a year.

We were at the beach for the CHS soccer team pics and the sunset was so pretty. The day was warm and there was no wind so it was nice to just sit and watch the surfers catch the waves. I tried to take some individual pictures but I had problems getting the faces backlit enough..so we will have to settle with just a shot of the beach.

Happy New Years!

We had some neighborhood friends over to bring in the new year. It was a beautiful night with the full moon. Many of us sat outside near the fire pits and enjoyed the evening together.

Juliet was in charge of decorating and she had the idea of putting tea lights along our new walls. The effect was very pretty!

We finally got the fountain in! It is so pretty. I have a little bit of work to do and some plants to plant and the area will be beautiful. I love the fact that I can also see it from inside our living room.
